Rooted in Texas. Built on Family. Grown Through Generations.
Oliver Pecan Company is more than a business—it’s a continuation of a legacy that began long before pecans were ever harvested for profit. Our story starts with the original Oliver settlers who helped shape the land and community we still proudly call home today: San Saba, Texas.
Our family comes from Andrew Oliver one of the original Oliver brothers who helped establish roots in this part of Texas. The Harmony Ridge Church and the Oliver family cemetery still sit on land donated by the early Oliver families, standing as a reminder of the faith, hard work, and commitment that helped build the community. Even today, the Oliver Family Reunion is held annually at Harmony Ridge—proof that tradition is still alive and well.
A Business Born on the Riverbanks
Three generations after those settlers established Harmony Ridge, Gordon Lee Oliver was born just a couple miles from the Harmony Ridge Church, in a small cabin on the San Saba River. He was raised with a deep respect for the land, the trees, and the way of life that comes with caring for both.
After meeting and marrying Clydene Terrell, Gordon Lee bought a ranch along the Colorado River, and in the 1970s he began harvesting pecans and selling them the old-fashioned way— to family and friends, as well as, out of the back of his pickup. It wasn’t fancy, but it was honest, hardworking Texas business, built on quality and trust.
Growing with the Industry
In the 1980s, the pecan industry began shifting toward mechanization, and what was once almost entirely hand-harvested became more efficient and widespread. This was the era when Oliver Pecan Company truly took root. We began harvesting and caring for pecan orchards not only in San Saba, but all over the state of Texas, earning a reputation for doing things the right way and treating every orchard like it was our own.
From Pecans to Famous Pecan Creations
When Shawn Oliver returned to the family business, Oliver Pecan expanded again—this time into what many customers know us for today. Using old family recipes, along with new creations inspired by tradition, Shawn helped build the wide variety of pecan products that have made Oliver Pecan Company a household name for so many families.
As the business grew, the family grew with it.
Marcie joined her mother to manage the books and accounting, helping keep the company strong and organized behind the scenes.
Mark helped expand operations by running the San Angelo location, where we custom shell pecans for locals and operate a retail store serving customers in West Texas.
The Next Generation
Today, Oliver Pecan Company remains proudly family-owned and operated, with the next generation stepping in to help carry on what Gordon Lee and Clydene started decades ago.
From the orchard to your kitchen, everything we do is guided by the same values that built this business in the first place:
Faith, family, tradition, and the belief that quality always matters.
Thank you for supporting Oliver Pecan Company and for allowing us to share a piece of our Texas heritage with you—one pecan at a time.
